ISM London review of the year 2009

Before we start planning for 2010, here’s a quick glance back at what ISM London did last year. THANK YOU to everyone involved, and feel proud of what we’ve done.

Direct action in the UK

Against Carmel-Agrexco in Uxbridge and Ahava in Covent Garden, with the support of other groups.

  • Three blockades of Carmel-Agrexco, each lasting several hours and disrupting the company’s operations.
  • Three blockades of Ahava, each lasting several hours, effectively closing the shop for the duration.
  • A series of supermarket actions culminating with a mass action in Sainsburys in October.

Demonstrations

  • Supported demonstrations against various Zionist groups and personalities.
  • Including two demonstrations outside the Israeli Embassy in London to support of the Hannoun, Al-Gawi and Al-Kurd families in Sheikh Jarrah.

Rallies

May 16th – Trafalgar Square, raised money on a from a stall, plus from a fundraiser that night.

Fundraising

Fundraising came from music events, the rally in Trafalgar Square, and Workers Beer. Huge thanks to Raph for his very generous donation, and to those who organised the workers beer events.

Debriefs

Six people debriefed and relevant feedback sent to ISM Palestine.

ISM SOAS

Our sister organisation is now in its second year and takes the lead with direct actions and activities – big thanks to everyone involved.
